National Sports Commission (NSC) director-general, Honourable Bukola Olopade’s special assistant media, Kola Daniel has hailed Nigeria’s mixed 4x100m team for winning their event at the Lefika International Relays in Gaborone, Botswana.

Sports247 reports that Daniel declared that the quartet etched their names in the record books of continental competitions by setting a new African record and enhancing their chances of qualification for the World Relays at the same venue.
Daniel also hailed the quartet of Chidera Ezeakor, Maria Thompson, James Taiwo Emmanuel and Obi Jennifer Chukwuka for clocking an outstanding time of 41.44 seconds to win the first edition of the event at the continental championships.
He added in a media statement trailing the historic feat in Botswana’s capital, Gaborone, “Team Nigeria not only claimed gold but also etched their names into the record books as the first African Record holders in the event.
“The performance significantly boosts Nigeria’s standing in the World Relays qualification rankings, moving the team up to 12th position and placing Nigeria firmly in contention for a place at the prestigious global event.”
