A stunning revelation has emerged to explain the marvellous form being enacted by Ademola Lookman at Atletico Madrid of Spain, as the Spanish La Liga club’s coach, Diego Simeone says the winger has a huge heart and strong desire to learn.

Sports247 reports that Lookman has already netted five goals in 14 games for the club he joined in February 2026 for a fee of €40m from Atalanta of Italy, and revving for more.
Lookman was also in top form for Nigeria on Friday, with an assist in their 2-1 win over Iran, before which his latest sizzler for Atletico came in a 3-2 derby loss to Real Madrid.
He became the first Nigerian to score in the Madrid derby, 8th Atletico player of the 21st century to hit target during his first appearance against Real and first since Luciano Vietto in October 2015 at Santiago Bernabéu.
The Super Eagles’ winger opened the day’s rain of goals in the 33rd minute, as he drove into the box and calmly finished off a clever backheel assist from Giuliano Simeone, whose father hailed the Nigerian sensation despite their loss.
Although Simeone admitted Lookman still has to work on his marking and defensive abilities, the Argentina ex-international and former midfield battler praised the 2024 African Footballer of The Year for adapting quickly.
Simeone acknowledged that the former Charlton Athletic, Everton, Fulham and Leicester City of England dazzler, who previously had two stints at RB Leipzig of Germany, has proven his skillful ability and keen eye for goal.
“He’s been improving, working very well, he gives us different things and we’re helping him grow defensively because he has that skill set and he’s a guy with a huge heart and a desire to learn.
“Hopefully, he’ll continue to give us important things,” enthused Simeone, affirming that Lookman, who also scored against Barcelona in Copa del Rey, has been a huge revelation since his arrival from Atalanta.
