While Eze bowed out after scoring a stunning goal against Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League, Madueke follows suit due to discomfort that ended his afternoon early for England against Uruguay.
Aside from joining fellow-Nigerian-born dazzler, Eze, on the sidelines at Emirates Stadium, Madueke becomes the latest key member of Mikel Arteta’s English Premier League title chasing squad bowing to injury.
Arteta will surely be wearing a worried brow, wondering how he will cope with the crucial phase of his side’s hunt for the much-elusive title, as Noni joins Leandro Trossard, Gabriel, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard on the injury list.
“Arsenal have been hit by a fresh injury blow with Noni Madueke breaking down while in action for England on Friday. During a 1-1 draw with Uruguay at Wembley, Madueke was forced off on 38 minutes.
“After being clattered by Rodrigo Aguirre, Madueke tried to shake off the knock but was substituted five minutes later. It’s unclear the extent of the injury, but Madueke seemed to be holding his face as he made his way off the pitch.
“At the beginning of international week, Arsenal players Eberechi Eze, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Martin Odegaard were all ruled out of their countries’ squads,” a report by Tribal Football disclosed.
