The Super Eagles winger, who arrived in 2023, earns the extension on the back of his contributions to Leverkusen’s recent rise, including their historic unbeaten campaign that delivered a maiden Bundesliga title.

He joined the German side alongside fellow Nigerian Victor Boniface, with both players playing influential roles during that memorable season.

Although injuries have disrupted parts of his time at the club, Leverkusen have reaffirmed their confidence in the 26-year-old with improved terms and a long-term commitment.

Sporting director Simon Rolfes hailed Tella’s importance to the squad, praising both his quality and professionalism.

“We are very pleased to retain a high-class professional like Nathan in the long term. He is an important player in the squad, and his pace and footballing quality are outstanding,” Rolfes said.

Tella, in his response, expressed satisfaction with life at the club and belief in what lies ahead.

“I feel incredibly comfortable at Bayer 04. The first years here were marked by fantastic success. It’s great to be part of the development of a powerful team, and I’m confident we can achieve more in the coming years,” he said.

Leverkusen currently sit sixth in the Bundesliga table, four points shy of the UEFA Champions League qualification spots, as they aim to finish the season strongly.
