Board member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Victor Okoro, has revealed that plans are already in place to refresh the D’Tigress following the recent retirement of veteran captain Sarah Ogoke.

Okoro assured that the federation has been proactive in preparing for the future, with a list of players already identified to step into the team when needed.
“We already have a succession plan in place,” he said.
The basketball administrator noted that while Ogoke’s departure is significant given her experience and leadership, there are capable players ready to fill the gap.
“There are players ready to step in and represent the country,” he added.
According to Okoro, many of the identified replacements are competing at high levels, including in top leagues such as the WNBA, which provides confidence in their ability to perform on the international stage.
“Some of them are already playing at the highest level,” he stated.
He emphasized that the transition will be managed carefully to ensure continuity and maintain the team’s competitive edge.
Okoro concluded by expressing confidence that D’Tigress will remain strong despite the changes, insisting that the next generation of players is ready to uphold the team’s success and represent Nigeria with pride.
