Assistant director of the National Sports Commission (NSC)’s Para-Sports Department, Mr. Oladipupo Idowu has highlighted various values that will be gained for amputee football players at the upcoming Para-Games in Abuja.

Sports247 reports that, while heralding amputee football as one of the most inspiring team events that will grace the 3rd National Para Games, Idowu pointed out that it showcases strength, resilience and determination of its players.
Idowu added that amputee football is an exciting sport that features seven players per team on a reduced pitch, relying on strong arms to maintain balance on one leg each, while using crutches with agility, mobility and tactical discipline.
He added that Abuja 2026 as a whole will bring together thousands of athletes, from March 26 to April 3, in a celebration of excellence, unity and inclusion, reinforcing the NSC’s message that ability transcends physical limitation.
“As we count down to the Games, we are confident that this event will inspire Nigerians and further promote inclusivity in sports. We have seen tremendous growth in para sports across the country.
“The quality of teams participating in amputee football this year reflects that progress. Amputee Football is a powerful platform that showcases the strength, resilience, and determination of our athletes.
“The competition will be intense, and we expect to discover talents who can represent Nigeria on the international stage,” Idowu enthused, while assuring that fans can expect thrilling encounters filled with passion, resilience and cordial spirit.
Sports247 gathered further that amputee football will feature two medal events at the forthcoming National Para-Games, with the matches taking place at FIFA Goal Project Pitch, Package B of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
