Sports247 reports that, although ‘AJ’ is still recovering from the agony of losing two of his close friends in a car accident that he survived on December 29th in Ogun State, he has embarked up yet another daring trip.
This time, Joshua hopped on the plane to Ukraine and landed in the capital Kiev, where Usyk met him on arrival and the 39-year-old reigning world heavyweight champion took his boxing rival round the war-torn city.
Joshua stated in a post on X: “Ukraine! For the first time in my life;’ to which Usyk, who is seen wearing a Stone Island jacket and beige baseball cap, replies: “It’s good. I show you, I show you Kyiv.”
The Nigerian-born former two-time world champion and London 2012 Olympic Games gold medalist, who also recently spoke about relocating his residence to Dubai, adds: “Let’s go! We go to see Kyiv.”
Interestingly, rather than spend all the time frolicking around Kyiv, Joshua has also stepped up his training routine in the camp of his former opponent (Usyk), under the guidance of his new trainer, Iegor Golub, who debuted with him against Jake Paul.
Golub began working with AJ last year after he split with Ben Davison, after his loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, but he is now set to return in March, before stepping into the ring for The Battle of Britain against Tyson Fury in August.
Sports247 adds that part of Joshua’s time in Kiev was also spent being a special guest at a night of fights organised by Usyk’s boxing promotions outfit in the capital of his country, Ukraine.
