Sports247 reports that Johnson expressed optimism about the Nigeria wheelchair basketball team’s chances and charged the squad of eight players to make the country proud at the competition, which ends on Friday.
While reminding the players that they will compete against top teams for a place at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, Johnson stressed that their participation is part of Nigeria’s commitment to develop inclusive sports.
He further pointed out that the competition presents an opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s sporting excellence, a platform to prove the growth of wheelchair basketball in the country and chance to promote para-sports internationally.
Johnson enthused, “We are confident in the quality and determination of our athletes. They have prepared well, and we are optimistic that they will deliver positive results that will secure Nigeria’s qualification for the Commonwealth Games.”
