In a message marking the end of Ramadan, Adeboye described the season not just as a time of joy, but as a moment for introspection and realignment of values that can drive meaningful change in society.
He noted that while Ramadan teaches sacrifice and devotion, its true significance lies in how those lessons are carried into everyday life and translated into actions that benefit the larger society.
“Eid should not end with celebration alone. It is a moment that challenges us to ask ourselves what has truly changed within us—our attitude to one another, our sense of responsibility, and our commitment to doing what is right.”
Adeboye emphasized that Nigeria’s progress depends largely on a shift in mindset among its citizens, where discipline, accountability, and mutual respect become guiding principles in both public and private life.
“The nation we desire cannot be built on wishes alone. It requires a conscious effort from all of us to live by values that promote trust, unity, and responsibility. These are not seasonal ideals; they must become a way of life.”
Drawing from his work in grassroots sports development, he highlighted the importance of consistency, structure, and character in achieving lasting success, noting that the same principles apply to national development.
“In sports, success does not come from talent alone—it comes from discipline, structure, and the ability to work together towards a common goal. Nation-building follows the same path.”
He urged Nigerians to use the period as an opportunity to reconnect with the essence of community and shared humanity, especially in a time where division and uncertainty can easily overshadow collective purpose.
“We must begin to see ourselves not as separate interests, but as part of a shared future. When we understand this, unity becomes natural and progress becomes possible.”
Adeboye concluded by wishing Muslim faithful a meaningful and fulfilling Eid celebration, expressing hope that the season would inspire a deeper commitment to building a better and more united Nigeria.
“May this Eid bring not just joy, but clarity, purpose, and a renewed sense of direction for us all.”
