The Canaanland Golf Course and Country Club will stage a commemorative golf tournament on April 25, 2026, to mark its second anniversary, with both professional and amateur golfers expected to participate.
Chairman of the club, Felix Aganbi, who is also the chief executive of Akogate Group, said the competition will be held on the club’s 18-hole course in Koko and is expected to attract seasoned players as well as emerging talents.
Aganbi noted that the anniversary tournament is aimed at promoting the growth of golf in Nigeria while providing a platform for upcoming players to showcase their abilities.
“The second anniversary of the 18-hole golf course will attract international talents and also provide opportunities for emerging golfers,” he said.
He added that the event would also serve as a platform to highlight investment opportunities in Koko, a coastal community in Delta State.
“On Saturday, April 25, 2026, we will host local and foreign investors, alongside amateur and professional golfers, to showcase the benefits of investing in Koko and celebrate the rich culture and history of Delta State,” Aganbi stated.
The tournament is being supported by Sir Alfred Temile and Mrs. Warami Temile, according to organisers.
The one-day competition will feature categories for both male and female golfers, with prize money available for winners.
Beyond golf, Aganbi revealed that the club has expanded its sporting activities to include badminton, table tennis and darts, reflecting its broader commitment to sports development.
Activities lined up for the anniversary celebration include networking sessions, skills development programmes, and health and wellness initiatives.
As part of the event, the club will also organise a medical outreach offering eye care services and general health checks at the Christiana Aganbi Sickbay.
