Although Alhassan and his pals initially went behind in the 18th minute, the home side did well to battle back and ended up winning with a club record for most goals scored in an MLS regular season fixture.

Alhassan scored on a header in the 53rd minute to make the scoreline 4-1, as he pounced on a deflection after Cincinnati’s goalkeeper, Roman Celantano blocked a thundering shot by Carles Gil.

It was Alhassan’s first goal this season and his third in 44 career appearances, but he was replaced in the 88th minute, after Cincinnati’s Valenzuela was tagged with a red card in the 69th and left the visitors playing with a man short.

It was the first victory for Alhassan’s coach, following which Mitrović, who is in his first season with The Revs, declared how delighted he was with all the goal scorers and the entire squad for giving him a historic win on his debut.

Mitrović added that the players maintained his preference for attacking aggression from everyone on the pitch, which ensured that their six goals in the game came from five different scorers and players from various positions across the field.

Alhassan’s coach added, “I’m very happy. It’s something we practiced a lot during the week – myself, Griffin (Yow), Carles (Gil). I’m very happy and I just want to continue for more.

“I have clarity with the coaching staff about what we want to look like and what the final product is. Something that I said to the guys, I congratulated them for the win.”
