The forthcoming 3rd National Para Games in Abuja has been described as another avenue through which Nigeria provides ‘a celebration of inclusion loaded with sporting excellence,’ as special athletes will take centre stage once again.

Sports247 reports that this year’s edition of the multi-sports competition for physically challenged athletes is scheduled to hold from March 26 to April 3, with competitors from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)) expected in various categories.
While providing fresh information ahead of the Games, National Sports Commission (NSC) director-general, Honourable Bukola Olopade’s special assistant for media, Kola Daniel said it is another opportunity for physically challenged athletes to show their talent.
He further disclosed that this year’s Para-Games at Moshood Abiola National Stadium will have a total of 17 medal-winning events, which have all been carefully structured to ensure fair competition among athletes with varying impairments.
Daniel added in a media statement, “The field events will feature F57 Discus and F57 Javelin, alongside combined classification events such as F53/54/55/56 Shot Put and Discus. Athletes in the F42-44/61-64 classes will compete in both Javelin and Discus.
“Additional shot-put events will take place in the F46/47, F11/12/13, F37/38, and F40/41 categories. On the track, athletes will compete in a range of sprint and middle-distance events, including the T11/12/13 200m, T53/54 100m, and T53/54 1500m races.
“The programme also includes T37/38 200m as well as T46/47 100m and 200m events. Completing the lineup is the T46/47 Long Jump, which adds a dynamic element to the competition by showcasing agility, speed and technical precision.
“These 17 events span throwing, sprinting, middle-distance racing and jumping disciplines, reflecting the diversity of Para Athletics. It’s one of the most competitive features of the Games, while providing a platform for resilience and national pride.”
