The Nigeria National League (NNL) has handed a one home match ban to Mbum Ferdinand, the General Manager of Mighty Jets FC, following comments deemed inciteful toward match officials.

The decision was announced by the NNL Disciplinary Committee after reviewing reports from the pre-match meeting ahead of the Matchday 12 fixture between Mighty Jets FC and Lobi Stars FC, played on March 14, 2026, at the Zaria Road Stadium in Jos.
According to the league body, Ferdinand allegedly made remarks during the pre-match meeting suggesting that his team must win the match and referenced previous officiating incidents involving referees in Jos.
The statement was considered capable of inciting hostility toward match officials.
The league said the comments also suggested that the safety of match officials would depend on the fans, a remark the disciplinary committee interpreted as a threat.
In its ruling, the NNL noted that although the comments were inappropriate, there were no incidents of violence before or after the match.
As a result, the committee opted for a warning and a disciplinary sanction rather than a heavier punishment.
The NNL warned Ferdinand to refrain from similar conduct in the future, stating that repeat offences would attract stricter sanctions.
Consequently, in line with Article 22.17 of the league’s rules and regulations, the General Manager of Mighty Jets FC has been banned from one home match, effective from the club’s next home fixture.
The decision was communicated in a letter signed by Danlami Alanana, Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria National League.
