‘It’s Time to Move On!’ Shorunmu Urges Nigeria to Stop Waiting on FIFA Verdict

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu has urged Nigeria to stop waiting on a verdict from FIFA regarding the country’s petition and instead focus on the future.

With the inter-confederation playoffs fast approaching and no official decision yet announced, Shorunmu believes the prolonged silence should be interpreted as a signal to move forward.

“It’s time to move on and focus on the next chapter,” Shorunmu said.

The former goalkeeper noted that the delay in communication from FIFA has left the situation uncertain, making it difficult for the team to plan effectively.

He stressed that rather than dwelling on the outcome of the appeal, Nigeria should channel its energy into rebuilding and preparing for upcoming competitions.

“When a decision takes this long, you have to read between the lines,” he added.

According to Shorunmu, relying on administrative decisions instead of results on the pitch is not a sustainable approach for a footballing nation of Nigeria’s stature.

He emphasized the importance of learning from past mistakes and ensuring better preparation in future qualification campaigns.

“We should focus on correcting our errors and preparing better,” he said.

The former Super Eagles star concluded by urging the football authorities to prioritize long-term development and planning, insisting that the team must look ahead rather than remain fixated on a verdict that may or may not come in Nigeria’s favor.
