The race for the Golden Boot in the Nigeria Premier Football League is beginning to intensify as the 2025/2026 season progresses, with Godwin Obaje and Uche Collins currently sharing the top spot on the scorers’ chart after Matchday 30.
Both forwards have scored 10 goals so far this season, putting them ahead of the chasing pack as the league heads into the decisive phase of the campaign.

Obaje has played a crucial role in the attack of Rangers International, netting his 10 goals in 25 appearances, while Collins has been equally influential for Katsina United, reaching the same tally in 24 matches.
Just behind the leading duo are Joseph Arumala of Ikorodu City and Daddy Abdulrahman of El-Kanemi Warriors, who both sit on nine goals and remain firmly in contention for the top scorer’s prize.
The race becomes even more competitive with several players closely following. Jonathan Mairiga of Wikki Tourists and Victor Mbaoma of Remo Stars have each scored eight goals this season and could still mount a serious challenge in the remaining fixtures.
A group of players are also on seven goals, keeping the pressure on the leaders.
Among them are veteran playmaker Rabiu Ali of Kano Pillars, defending Golden Boot winner Anas Yusuf of Nasarawa United, Vincent Temitope of Plateau United, and Chidozie Iwundu of Rangers International.
Yusuf, who finished last season as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals, will be hoping to rediscover his scoring form as the campaign enters its final stretch.
Meanwhile, 45-year-old Rabiu Ali continues to defy age with consistent performances for Kano Pillars, proving he remains one of the league’s most influential attacking players.
With several matches still left in the season, the battle for the NPFL Golden Boot remains wide open, and the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining who emerges as the league’s leading marksman.
