Former Beyond Limits player Promise Meliga announced himself in stunning fashion as the Nigerian forward inspired Kristiansund BK to a dramatic 3–2 victory over SK Brann on Matchday 1 of the Norwegian Eliteserien at the Nordmøre Stadion.
In what turned out to be a dream introduction, Meliga came off the bench in the 71st minute, replacing fellow Nigerian Isah Mustapha, who had earlier converted from the penalty spot to put Kristiansund firmly in the contest. At that point, the game was still delicately poised, but few could have predicted the decisive role the substitute would go on to play.

With Kristiansund pushing for a way back, Meliga rose to the occasion when it mattered most. In the 84th minute, he found the equaliser to make it 2–2, giving the home fans renewed hope and changing the momentum of the encounter. But the Nigerian forward was not done yet.
Deep into stoppage time, in the 93rd minute, Meliga produced the moment that sealed a thrilling opening-day victory. He struck again to complete a sensational brace and hand Uglan all three points in unforgettable fashion. His composure, sharpness, and instant impact turned him into the undisputed hero of the evening.
What makes the performance even more remarkable is that it came less than three days after his arrival at Kristiansund BK on loan from Vålerenga Fotball.
Despite having little time to settle in, Meliga showed no signs of hesitation, delivering exactly the kind of attacking spark his new club needed.
For Kristiansund BK, it was a perfect way to begin the new league campaign. For Promise Meliga, it was an emphatic statement of intent.
The Nigerian striker could hardly have asked for a better start to life at the club, and if this debut is anything to go by, Kristiansund fans will be hoping there is much more to come from their new loan signing.
