Bright Future Football Academy produced a spirited performance to defeat Ajegunle United Sporting Club 2–1 in a thrilling Week 7 encounter of the Nathaniel Idowu–Ajegunle U-14 League.
The match got off to an intense start, with Bright Future taking the lead in th4 e 15th minute after Onyejiuwa Chidalu capitalised on a dropped ball by Ajegunle United goalkeeper Anyanwu Divine.
Bright Future doubled their advantage in the 25th minute when Ezike Favour struck a well-taken free kick to send his side into the break with a comfortable lead.
Ajegunle United returned strongly in the second half, piling pressure on their opponents and dominating possession.
Their persistence paid off in the 36th minute when Joshua Vincent pulled one back to revive hopes of a comeback.
Despite controlling 55 percent of possession and recording six shots on target compared to Bright Future’s four, Ajegunle United were unable to find an equaliser as Bright Future held firm to secure a valuable victory.
The result lifts Bright Future to fourth position on the league table as teams continue to battle for the top-four spots and a share of the ₦500,000 prize money.
Elsewhere, Fortune Football Academy delivered a commanding display to thrash Coal City Football Academy 4–0. Gbemigbade Waris opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, while Odeshola Odunayo netted twice in the 28th and 38th minutes.
Lot Heritage also added his name to the scoresheet in the 35th minute as Fortune FA dominated the contest with 60 percent possession and eight shots on target.
In another exciting encounter,
Strong Dove Football Academy edged Pure Talents Football Academy 3–2.
Pure Talents initially took the lead through Fidelis Prosper in the 12th minute, but an own goal by Francis John in the 31st minute brought Strong Dove level.
Goodluck Muogbo then scored twice in the 37th and 40th minutes to give Strong Dove control of the match.
Pure Talents pulled one back late through Igbowu Adeleke’s 54th-minute penalty, but it was not enough to deny Strong Dove the win.
The final match of the day saw Moree Wins Foundation Football Academy secure a 2–1 victory over Divinely Blessed Football Academy.
Chidera Frederick opened the scoring in the 5th minute before Oyebanji Fawaz doubled the lead in the 20th minute.
Akeem Ismaila reduced the deficit for Divinely Blessed in the 50th minute, but Moree Wins held on for their second consecutive win.
Week 7 of the Nathaniel Idowu–Ajegunle U-14 League once again highlighted the exciting young talents emerging from grassroots football in Ajegunle.
