National Para-Games’ March 26th Commencement Date Excites Stakeholders

As the countdown gets tighter towards the March 26th commencement date for this year’s National Para-Games in Abuja, stakeholders in the Nigerian special sports sector are getting more excited with each passing day.

Sports247 gathered that this year’s edition of the Para-Games will take place from March 26 to April 3rd at Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, with competitors, coaches and officials expected from all 36 states.

Training programmes, financial planning and other form of preparations have been stepped up for athletes, coaches, officials and stakeholders across the country, in anticipation of another historic festival of para-sports.

Events that are expected to be contested for are para-athletics, para powerlifting, para swimming, para table tennis, wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, para taekwondo, para cycling and amputee football.

A promotional statement noted in part, “The National Para Games have grown into Nigeria’s largest platform (and) crucial pathway for discovering talents who can represent the country at continental and global para competitions.

“The Games underscore the NSC’s commitment to inclusive sports development, creating opportunities for athletes with disabilities to showcase their talent, resilience, and determination on a national stage.”

Sports247 gathered further that the National Para-Games is already being rated as a major aspect of the NSC’s inclusive policy to augment the federal government’s RHINSE Initiative.
