Nigerian-born defensive tackle, Osawaru Odighizuwa (aka Osa) has sealed a move from Dallas Cowboys to San Francisco 49ers in a major trade across two top teams in USA’s National Football League (NFL).
Sports247 gathered that Odighizuwa makes the move from Dallas to San Francisco with great expectations, as The 49ers made a last minute move to bolster their defensive line for the NFL’s new season.
The 49ers struck a deal to trade for the Nigerian-born American Football sensation, in exchange for a 2026 third-round draft pick they sent to The Cowboys.
While allowing Odighizuwa move on, The Cowboys also reached a deal to send their defensive lineman, Solomon Thomas, and a seven-round pick, to Tennessee Titans in exchange for a seventh-round pick.
The 27-year-old Odighizuwa had 44 total tackles and 3.5 sacks last season, his fifth in the league, while also being consistent on the defensive front for The Cowboys since they selected him in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of UCLA.
He’s had at least three sacks and 40 tackles per season since his second campaign in the league, which got better when The Cowboys signed him to a four-year $80m extension last year.
Sports247 gathered further that the deal is the second significant one The Cowboys made with their defensive front this offseason, after they moved for Green Bay Packers edge rusher, Rashan Gary last week and was made official on Wednesday.
