The Zimbabwe U-19 Women’s Cricket Team has officially joined the lineup for the 5th Nigeria Women’s Invitational WT20I Tournament, increasing the number of participating teams to six.
The tournament will take place at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval from March 18 to March 29, 2026, with teams expected to arrive in Lagos ahead of the opening fixtures.

The addition of Zimbabwe’s youth side, known as the Rising Stars, adds further depth to the competition, which continues to serve as a key platform for the development of women’s cricket across Africa.
With Zimbabwe now confirmed, the six teams expected to compete in the tournament include:
Nigeria (Hosts)
Zimbabwe U-19 Women
South Africa U-19 Women
Rwanda
Ghana
Sierra Leone
According to the Nigeria Cricket Federation, the teams are scheduled to arrive on March 18, while the opening match will be played on March 20.
The Nigeria Women’s Invitational WT20I tournament is designed to provide valuable international exposure and high-performance competition for emerging players, particularly young female cricketers across the continent.
Matches from the competition are also expected to be recorded and tracked on global cricket platforms, providing wider visibility for women’s cricket in Africa.
The annual event continues to reinforce Nigeria’s growing role as a regional hub for international women’s cricket development, with Lagos hosting teams from across the continent for the highly anticipated tournament.
