The 23-year-old defensive midfielder, who likes the technique and style of ex-international schemer, Seyi George Olofinjana, believes he is now mature enough to wear Nigeria’s green-and-white jersey.
His declaration comes few weeks after he signed the dotted lines at his new club earlier this month, and the product of Lagos-based Idowu Boys FC and Team 360 FC reckoned that a national team invite should be his next reward.
Olajide, who previously played for Chemal FC, Nouakchott Kings and Pilica Bialobrzegi FC, added: “My next target is to play for the Super Eagles, because I want to follow the steps of my role model, Seyi Olofinjana. I adore him because of his tactical discipline in midfield.
“I also like the style of former Manchester City star, Yaya Touré. What I like about him is his calmness on the ball, his defensive and offensive abilities, as well as his eye for goals.”
Dramatically, rather than pick a big European club as his next desired port of call, the Cupid-faced rising star mentioned Radomiak Random as the team he would like to play for.
He expatiated, “It’s a club that provides a good pathway for young players and for gradual development in Poland. They also give African players a chance to grow and show their talent.
“It’s the type of club that will help me grow and encourage me to make it big in football; which has been my dream since when I was growing up in Nigeria.
“I thank my family for motivating to where I am today and for the help that I got from a few players agents. I thank them for how they believe in me and recognise my abilities in the game of football.
“I am happy with what I’ve achieved so far, but I now want to represent my country, Nigeria, in a major tournament. I also want to play in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League,” Olajide projected.
