The 25-year-old in-form star, whose brother, Lukas Nmecha plays for Leeds United of England, gained superlatives from Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, after signing the new deal.
Kehl admitted he was thrilled with Nmecha’s decision to put pen to paper on a new contract with BVB, keeping him there until 2030, despite interest from several top clubs in the English Premier League.
Nmecha, who has scored two goals and provided three assists in 25 German Bundesliga games, added two years to his previous contract, which Kehl said confirmed his loyalty to the team and then heaped plaudits on the dazzler.
Kehl said about the lad who was approached by Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea: “After some bad luck with injuries at the beginning of his time here in Dortmund, Felix has become a very important part of our team.
“His ability to cover ground and overcome opponents makes him extremely valuable to us in the center of the pitch, and he always finds creative solutions, even under pressure.
“He brings incredible quality to the field – both for us and for the German national team. We are convinced that his development curve will continue to rise in the future.”
