Osimhen Chose Passion Over Paycheck, Says Kavukcu

Vice President of Galatasaray S.K., Abdullah Kavukcu, has dismissed speculation surrounding the financial motivations of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, insisting the forward’s presence at the club is driven by passion and the overwhelming support of the fans rather than money.

Speaking in a recent interview, Kavukcu addressed growing discussions about the striker’s salary and future, emphasizing that the prolific Nigerian had previously turned down a massive offer from Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal SFC.

According to the Galatasaray executive, Osimhen rejected a staggering €50 million-per-year proposal from Al-Hilal, which would have seen him earn a total of €150 million over three years. Kavukcu used the example to underline the striker’s priorities and commitment to football at the highest level.

“How many players like Victor Osimhen are there in the world?” Kavukcu said.

“People keep making different comments about his salary, but the facts are clear. He rejected Al-Hilal’s offer of €50 million per year. That’s €150 million across three seasons. Would such a player refuse to play simply because he hasn’t received his money?”

Kavukcu further highlighted the unique relationship between Osimhen and the Galatasaray supporters, noting that the striker’s connection with the club’s passionate fan base played a decisive role in his decision to remain.

“If the Galatasaray fans were not like this—if there wasn’t so much love and support—Osimhen would not be here today,” he added. “The support our fans give to players is something you rarely see anywhere else in the world.” we do

Since arriving, Osimhen has quickly become one of the most influential figures at the Turkish giants, winning admiration for his relentless work rate, leadership, and eye for goal. His performances have further cemented his reputation as one of the most sought-after strikers in world football.

Kavukcu believes that beyond goals and statistics, the Nigerian forward is building a lasting legacy at the club.

“One thing is certain,” he concluded. “Victor Osimhen will take his place in Galatasaray history.”

With speculation about his future continuing to circulate across Europe and beyond, Galatasaray remain confident that their star striker’s bond with the club and its supporters will remain a powerful factor in shaping the next chapter of his career.
