Super Eagles Forward Salim Faggo Scores Again as Viktoria Plzeň Cruise Past Hradec Králové

Super Eagles forward Salim Faggo Lawal returned to the scoresheet as Viktoria Plzeň secured a convincing 3–0 victory over FC Hradec Králové in their Czech First League clash on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Nigerian attacker ended a four-match goal drought in all competitions by opening the scoring in the 44th minute, unleashing a superb right-footed strike from outside the box after a swift counterattack.

His clinical finish handed Plzeň the lead just before halftime and set the tone for a dominant display.

The visitors doubled their advantage shortly after the restart when Cheick Souaré rose highest to head home in the 48th minute, giving Plzeň greater control of the encounter.

Tomáš Ladra later wrapped up the comfortable win in the 66th minute, calmly finishing from inside the penalty area to seal all three points for the Czech giants.

Lawal’s goal marked his second league strike since completing a winter move to Viktoria Plzeň from Croatian side NK Istra 1961.

The Nigerian forward signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club as they strengthened their attacking options for the second half of the season.

Before his switch to the Czech Republic, Lawal had already begun making strides on the international stage.

He earned his senior debut for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, marking an important milestone in his career.

With Viktoria Plzeň pushing for a strong finish in the Czech First League campaign, Lawal’s growing influence in attack could prove crucial as the club aims to maintain momentum in the closing stages of the season.
