Mikel Suggests Ancelotti as Ideal Candidate for Manchester United Job

Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has suggested that experienced Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti could be the right man to take charge of Manchester United if the club decides to make a change in its managerial position.

Mikel made the remarks while discussing the current situation at Old Trafford, where the team has been under the interim leadership of former midfielder Michael Carrick.

The former Chelsea midfielder acknowledged Carrick’s efforts with the team so far, noting that the ex-United player has done well since stepping into the role.

“Michael Carrick has done a good job with the team and I like the work he’s doing,” Mikel said.

Despite his admiration for Carrick, Mikel believes Manchester United may need an experienced manager with a proven track record to stabilise the club and guide them back to the top level of European football.

“Someone like Carlo Ancelotti would be a great option for Manchester United,” he added.

Ancelotti, widely regarded as one of the most successful managers in football history, has won major titles across Europe and is known for his ability to manage top players and deliver success at elite clubs.

Mikel explained that the Italian’s experience could help restore confidence and structure at Old Trafford.
“He has the experience and knows how to handle big teams and big players,” he stated.

However, the former Nigerian international also noted that Carrick could still be considered for the position if the club decides to maintain continuity.

“If Michael Carrick is given the opportunity, he could also grow into the role,” Mikel said.

Mikel also mentioned another potential candidate in Roberto De Zerbi, who has earned praise for his tactical approach and progressive style of play.

“If it’s not Ancelotti or Carrick, maybe they could look at Roberto De Zerbi,” he concluded.

Manchester United continue to search for stability as they aim to return to their traditional position among Europe’s elite clubs.
