Victor Osimhen Header Seals Derby Win for 10-Man Galatasaray S.K. Over Beşiktaş J.K.

Victor Osimhen proved decisive once again as Galatasaray secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over rivals Beşiktaş in the Turkish league, despite finishing the match with ten men.

The Nigerian striker produced the match-winning moment in the 39th minute, rising above the defence to power home a well-placed header from an excellent cross by Leroy Sané. The goal capped a strong first-half display from the league leaders and ultimately proved enough to separate the two Istanbul sides.

Osimhen’s movement and aerial presence caused persistent problems for the Beşiktaş defence throughout the contest. His decisive strike gave Galatasaray the advantage heading into halftime in what was a tense and fiercely contested encounter.

The hosts’ task became more difficult in the second half when Sané was shown a red card in the 62nd minute following a challenge that sparked heavy protests from his teammates. Reduced to ten men, Galatasaray were forced to shift their approach, focusing on defensive discipline and compact organization to protect their slender lead.

Beşiktaş, featuring Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Galatasaray’s defence held firm under sustained pressure in the closing stages.

Osimhen’s goal ultimately secured a crucial three points for Galatasaray, reinforcing their dominance at the top of the Turkish league standings. After Matchday 25, the Istanbul giants remain comfortably at the summit with 61 points as they continue their push for the title.

For Osimhen, the strike further highlights his importance to the team’s attacking ambitions, with the Nigerian forward once again delivering when it mattered most in a high-stakes derby clash.
