Internationally renowned Nigerian social media influencer, Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji (aka KSI) has sensationally become a club owner in England, following his acquisition of a non-league side, Sports247 gathered.
The motivational speaker, musician, former professional boxer, co-founding member of ‘Sidemen’ YouTube group and co-founder of Misfits Boxing outfit is now the owner of Dagenham & Redbridge.
KSI, who is also fondly called ‘JJ’ by his admirers, made the announcement of his latest purchase himself, a few days after a hint was provided by the National League South club, who play in the sixth tier of the English football league.
Dagenham & Redbridge confirmed that KSI would join the club as a shareholder and strategic partner, though information that emerged earlier last month stated that the club had been acquired by an investment group led by John Grabowski.
Further information provided by UK’s Daily Mirror revealed, “KSI becomes the latest to invest in the club just days after former England, Liverpool and Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll also became a shareholder.
“(The) avid Arsenal supporter is one of the driving forces behind the YouTube scene in the United Kingdom, with the 32-year-old boasting over 17 million subscribers and over four billion views on his main channel.
“He is also part of the YouTube supergroup, The Sidemen, who have revolutionised content-making on the platform with their high-quality videos with their own brands and hosting numerous YouTube charity matches.’
KSI stated via a post to his Instagram: “I’m so excited to start this journey. It’s gonna be a rollercoaster for sure, but I hope to bring Dagenham and Redbridge back to the glory days.
“For those of you that are OG fans (Race to Division One), you’ll know that this is a full circle moment for me. So join me on this exhilarating adventure and I’ll see you all at Victoria road this Saturday!”
