Antetokounmpo’s 19 Points Can’t Prevent Blow Out Defeat For Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee Bucks of USA’s Nigerian-born star, Giannis Antetokounmpo (Adetokunbo) hit a team-high 19 points in his first game back from injury, but his haul was not enough to prevent a blowout loss to Boston Celtics.

Sports247 reports that all hopes held by Bucks’ fans that having ‘The Greek Freak’ back from injury would boost their team’s chances against The Celtics fell flat, as their hosts rolled to a 108-81 win.

That result spoilt Antetokounmpo’s return, after a calf injury kept him out for months, with his team-high 19 points, 11 rebounds and going 7-of-18 from the field falling short of the expected victory.

Despite his frenetic efforts, Celtics led nearly the entire way in a very dominant win, as all of their five starters hit double figures, and Payton Pritchard led the team with 25 points, while making five 3-pointers off the bench.

It was Celtics’ third straight win of the season in USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA), and it came despite the 31-year-old Antetokounmpo showcasing his explosiveness with a windmill dunk in the final seconds of the game.

Sports247 gathered further that Monday’s loss dropped Antetokounmpo’s team to 26-34 on the season, which has them just outside of the play-in tournament in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.

While The Bucks held on to Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline, there is no guarantee he will remain with the team after this offseason, especially having battled a calf strain for most of this year.

He first suffered the injury in early December and missed eight games before returning on December 27 against Chicago Bulls, but had to withdraw from this year’s innovative NBA All Star weekend due to a relapse.
