Nigeria will take centre stage in women’s cricket later this month as it hosts South Africa, Ghana and Sierra Leone in a four-nation Women’s T20 International Invitational Tournament in Lagos.
The tournament, organised by the Nigeria Cricket Federation, will run from March 18 to 29 at the TBS Cricket Oval, Lagos, and is expected to showcase high-level international competition as teams fine-tune preparations for upcoming global events.

South Africa will be represented by their Under-19 Women’s side, competing against senior national teams from Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Rwanda in a round-robin league format.
The competition forms part of South Africa’s build-up to the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup scheduled for January next year in Bangladesh and Nepal.
At the end of the league phase, the top two teams will advance to the final, while the next two highest-placed sides will contest the third-place playoff.
The invitational tournament will provide valuable exposure for young South African players against experienced international opposition, while also strengthening Nigeria’s growing profile as a host of international cricket events.
Nigeria will face South Africa on March 26 in what is expected to be one of the tournament’s marquee fixtures, with earlier games seeing the South Africans take on Rwanda, Ghana and Sierra Leone.
The final and third-place matches are scheduled for March 28, bringing the curtain down on what promises to be a competitive and developmental tournament for all participating nations.
The event further underlines Nigeria’s commitment to advancing women’s cricket on the continent, offering a competitive platform for emerging and established teams ahead of major international championships.
