“If the league should end today, Rangers is going to be a league winner,” Ilechukwu said after the match.
The Rangers boss praised his side’s tactical discipline, revealing that the plan was to stay compact early before pushing for goals in the second half.
“I think today we played against a very good side. We prepared well and decided to play defensively in the first half before going out for the goals, and we kept a clean sheet.”
He also pointed to Rangers’ attacking improvement and overall squad strength as key to their league position.
“Our results show on the league table. We are scoring better now because we have a strong team.”
Despite the confidence, Ilechukwu urged his players to stay grounded and handle pressure maturely as the season enters its decisive phase.
“We need to concentrate and not push under pressure. Great respect to Rivers United FC. We are the underdogs now, but as the season ends, the reality will show.”
