In his congratulatory message, Gusau praised Infantino’s leadership and the expansion initiatives introduced during his tenure.
“Over the past 10 years, President Infantino has brought significant development and innovation to global football,” Gusau said. “His leadership has had tremendous impact across Africa and particularly in Nigeria.”
The NFF president highlighted several FIFA-driven reforms and funding programs that have benefited African football associations, including increased financial support, expanded tournament structures, and grassroots development schemes.
“Nigeria has benefited from various FIFA projects under his administration. From infrastructure support to women’s football development and youth competitions, we have seen meaningful progress,” Gusau noted.
He further commended Infantino’s push for inclusivity and global expansion, particularly the increase in slots for African teams at major tournaments.
“The expansion of global competitions has given more opportunities to nations like Nigeria. It reflects a commitment to growth and fairness,” he added.
Gusau expressed optimism that the working relationship between Nigeria and FIFA would continue to strengthen in the coming years.
“We look forward to working closely with President Infantino to bring even more development to Nigerian football,” he stated. “There is still much to achieve.”
While acknowledging that global football continues to evolve, Gusau emphasized that collaboration between FIFA and national federations remains key to sustaining progress.
“Ten years is a significant milestone. We wish him many more successful years leading world football,” Gusau concluded.
Infantino’s decade in charge has been marked by major reforms, expanded competitions, and increased investment in football development programs worldwide.
