Osimhen Refuses To Celebrate After Scoring Against Juventus In Champions League

Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor James Osimhen refused to celebrate his goal against Juventus of Italy on Wednesday night in the UEFA Champions League, as the Super Eagles’ star showed respect to the side he almost joined in 2024.

Sports247 recalls that Osimhen could have been a Juventus player had his former club, SSC Napoli allowed him to join their Serie A rivals, but The Neapolitans blocked the deal and he moved to Gala instead.

Osimhen’s love for Juve then came to the fore on Wednesday night in Turin, as the 2023 African Footballer of The Year hit home a backbreaking goal in extra time to put Galatasaray into contention for the UCL’s round of 16.

On the stroke of the halfway mark in extra time, Osimhen hit a low ball through the legs of Juve’s keeper for his seventh UCL goal of the season and became the club’s top foreign scorer in the competition.

The Nigerian hitman later ran alongside Baris Yilmaz but allowed his teammate net their second goal, making it 2-3 against them with a minute left on the night, but Galatasaray want through 5-7 on aggregate.

Osimhen, though, opted for subdued reactions on both occasions, as he appeared to show immense respect for The Old Lady who initially drew level at 5-5 aggregate, despite having a man sent off early in the second half.

Up next for Osimhen and his pals is a potentially explosive confrontation with English Premier League opposition, as Galatasaray will tango either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur in the round of 16.
