A wonder goal by Nigerian-born midfielder, Karim Adeyemi and an assist by Carney Chukwuemeka were not enough to help Borussia Dortmund of Germany into the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
Sports2347 reports that, on a night when the two players of Nigerian descent were at their best, their team failed to gt the better of Atalanta of Italy, who won the tie 4-1 with the last kick of the nLookman’s former club secure a 4-3 aggregate victory, thereby becoming the first team to overcome a first-leg, two-goal deficit and progress in a UCL knockout tie since the 2018/19 campaign.

However, interestingly, it was almost not going to be so, after BVB’s coach, Niko Kovač made four substitutions in the space of 10 minutes, and two of those replacements combined to level the tie.
Adeyemi played a quick one-two with Chukwuemeka before curling into the top corner with his left foot and set up an enthralling final quarter-hour, but a very controversial moment decided the encounter late on.
As Atalanta’s Nikola Krstović went for the ball, he was blocked by Dortmund’s Bensebaini, who cleared for a corner kick, but caught the striker’s head with his boot in the follow-through.
After VAR intervention, Bensabaini was sent off and a penalty was awarded to Atalanta, thereby allowing Lazar Samardžić to convert from the spot with the last kick of the game; leaving Adeyemi, Chukwuemeka and their teammates in tears.
