Mikel remains critical of the arrival of Liam Rosenoir as coach at Stamford Bridge, even as the former Super Eagles’ captain also questioned the club’s decision to sack Enzo Maresca.
Mikel described Chelsea’s sack of Maresca as ‘ridiculous,’ and reckoned that The Blues have declined since the Italian tactician was sacked on New Year’s Day and Rosenior arrived from Strasbourg of France.
He noted further that, though Rosenior enjoyed a positive start, recent poor results against Leeds United and Burnley have raised concern, leaving the legend to slam The Blues’ top shots.
Mikel went to his ‘Obi One podcast’ to declare: “We had Enzo Maresca. I’ve said it, I think it was a massive mistake to sack him. I mean, it’s ridiculous. A manager that won us the Club World Cup, won us the Conference League.
“We had some sort of identity the way we played. We took a step forward, and we’ve gone five steps backwards. Liam has come in, and he’s won games, but there is absolutely something that is missing. Something is not quite right.”
