The match on all lips this midweek, one which everyone has been waiting for since the fixtures for this year’s competition were released last month, is between White Soccer Football Academy of Abaronje and Wonderlight Football Academy of Igando.
Although Wonderlight may have more fans at the venue, as their training ground is a walking distance away at Local Government Primary School along Igando-Ikotun Road, White Soccer have a stronger rating in terms of history, prestige, pride and numbers.
Wonderlight’s captain, Olatunde Faruk, admitted that his side is the less fancied underdog for the midweek cracker with their rivals from Bucknor Field, but declared that they will do their very best to pull off an upset.
He acknowledged further that Wonderlight Academy, which was founded in 2024 by Pelumi Dosunmu and jointly owned by Ayomide Adebayo, has yet to win any trophy, but stressed that they are determined to change the narrative this year.
“I am yet to win any cup with this team, which I joined from the very first day that they started. I want to win something this year.
“That’s why I will do all that I can to ensure that we beat White Soccer on Wednesday, and that will give us more confidence to win this year’s Ramadan Cup,” Faruk enthused.
