Babaganaru Applauds Kano Pillars’ Late Revival After Ruthless Rout of El-Kanemi

The emphatic win at the Sani Abacha Stadium capped a remarkable turnaround for a side that has endured a turbulent campaign, spending large parts of the season entrenched in the relegation zone.

Kano Pillars’ struggles were compounded earlier in the season by off-field sanctions, including a stadium ban and a painful deduction of three points and three goals.

The club also underwent a mid-season managerial change, a move that initially added uncertainty but has since sparked a late surge away from danger.

Speaking after the El-Kanemi rout, Babaganaru described the performance as close to perfect.

“Maximum three points, three goals and a clean sheet — a very good result,” he said. “Both teams tried to play good football, but we created more chances and, importantly, we took them.”

The tactician singled out in-form forward Luis Dadong, who has now scored in three consecutive matches since arriving at the club.

“He’s very dedicated and understands the game. Scoring in every match gives the team confidence, and I hope he keeps it going,” Babaganaru added.

Babaganaru also pointed to recent displays as evidence of a growing belief within the squad, citing the performance against Kwara United as a turning point.

“I said after that game that if we continued with that intensity and discipline, the results would come. Today proves that,” he noted.

Looking ahead, the Pillars boss stressed the need for consistency as his side prepares for a tough away test against Shooting Stars in Abeokuta.

“If we can reproduce this level of performance, I’m confident we can get a positive result,” he said.

The victory lifted Kano Pillars to 16th place with 32 points from 27 matches, edging them out of the relegation zone and keeping survival firmly within reach.

After months of setbacks, sanctions, and instability, the Sai Masu Gida now appear to be mounting a timely late-season escape.
