The captain of Wonderlight Football Academy of Igando, Lagos, Olatunde Faruk has disclosed that he learnt how to be a good team leader by watching Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid of Spain and Nemanja Vidic with Manchester United of England.

He disclosed further in a chat with Sports247 at his team’s training pitch inside Local Government Primary School, Church Bus Stop, Igando-Ikotun Road that he also likes the leadership style of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Faruk, who happens to be a devout christian, added that he loves the determination, zeal and passion that Ronaldo shows in all his matches, which encouraged the youngster to take football seriously.
The soft-spoken lad then thanked Wonderlight Football Academy’s founder, Pelumi Dosunmu and his partner, Ayomide Adebayo, for the manner in which they are building future stars in the team, which was established in 2024.
He expressed enthusiasm that Wonderlight Football Academy will continue waxing strong and that his leadership efforts as captain of the side will take them farther, as they continue aiming for greater height.
“I love being a captain because I love being a leader. I am happy that my coach appointed me to captain this academy. I have been with the team since inception, and I like what they are doing.
“I learnt how to be a good captain by watching Ramos when he was with Madrid and Vidic at Manchester United. They were both very good captains, and I admired them.
“I also admire Ronaldo. I like his shooting power and his skills with the ball. I’ve liked watching Ronaldo play since when I was really young,” Faruk stated.
The young captain went on to express optimism that he will eventually win his first trophy with the academy in the coming month, as they commence action this Wednesday in the 2026 Ramadan Cup at Sosan Field, Igando.
