Nigeria’s Super Eagles have lined up another international friendly as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The three-time African champions are scheduled to face the Jordan national football team during the upcoming FIFA international window between March 21 and 23, before taking on Iran national football team on March 27.
Reports from Iranian media, quoting the Football Federation of Iran, confirmed that the friendly against Nigeria will form part of Iran’s March preparations.
The federation’s spokesperson, Amirmahdi Alavai, disclosed that the match against the Super Eagles will be followed by another friendly against Costa Rica on March 31.
The fixtures are designed to give Iran exposure to different footballing styles under head coach Amir Ghalenoei, while Nigeria will also benefit from high-level opposition as they continue rebuilding and fine-tuning their squad ahead of World Cup qualification milestones.
Iran, popularly known as Team Melli, have already been drawn in Group G of the 2026 World Cup alongside Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand, making the encounter with Nigeria a key test against one of Africa’s traditional powerhouses.
For the Super Eagles, the March friendlies offer an important opportunity to assess squad depth, tactical balance and player combinations as the long road to the 2026 World Cup gathers momentum.
