SSA Abeboye Calls for Reflection, Discipline and Unity as Ramadan Begins Across Nigeria

As Muslims across Nigeria prepare to observe the holy month of Ramadan, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has urged the faithful to embrace the period as a time for deep spiritual reflection, discipline and renewed commitment to personal and national values.

In his message ahead of the commencement of the fast, Hon. Adeboye described Ramadan as a unique opportunity for moral renewal, self-control and purposeful living, especially at a time when the nation seeks greater unity and direction.

“Ramadan is a period that reminds us of discipline, sacrifice, patience and compassion,” the SSA said. “These values are not only central to faith but are also essential to building strong individuals, responsible youths and a united nation.”

He cautioned against reducing the holy month to mere routines or social activities, stressing that its true essence lies in reflection, humility and conscious effort to become better citizens.

According to him, the lessons of Ramadan resonate strongly with sports and youth development, where discipline, focus and character are the foundations of excellence.

“For our youths in particular, this season should inspire self-improvement, purpose and positive choices. Discipline learned during Ramadan can translate into success in sports, education and leadership,” Adeboye noted.

The presidential aide also called on Nigerians to use the period to strengthen bonds across communities, promote peace and show kindness to one another, regardless of religious or cultural differences.

“Ramadan reminds us that unity, empathy and shared responsibility are key to progress. When we carry these values beyond the fasting period, we build a stronger and more peaceful Nigeria,” he added.

Hon. Adeboye concluded by wishing Muslims across the country a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan, praying for good health, accepted prayers and renewed hope for families, communities and the nation at large.
