Former Nigeria goalkeeper Ambrose Vanzekin has stressed that Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali must secure a new club as soon as possible to remain sharp and competitive at the international level.

Reacting to Nwabali’s current club situation, Vanzekin said the goalkeeper’s experience and mental strength would help him overcome the challenge but warned that staying without a club for too long could negatively affect his performances for the national team.

“Stanley has the experience and mental strength to bounce back, but it is very important for him to get a club quickly,” Vanzekin said.

“A goalkeeper needs regular football to stay sharp, confident and ready for international duty.”

The former shot-stopper also called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to play a more active role in guiding and protecting the Super Eagles’ number one goalkeeper during this period.

“He shouldn’t be left to handle this situation alone. The federation must guide and support him because he is very important to the national team,” he added.

Vanzekin concluded that with the right support system and a timely move, Nwabali can return stronger and continue to play a key role for Nigeria in upcoming competitions.
