Head coach of Rivers United, Finidi George, has expressed optimism that the club has gained vital experience from their CAF Champions League campaign, despite bowing out at the group stage.

Speaking after Rivers United’s final group match, a 3–0 defeat to RS Berkane, Finidi admitted the continental journey was a tough learning curve for his players, many of whom were competing at that level for the first time.
“Most of these players were playing on the continent for the first time,” Finidi said. “They lacked the experience required for a competition like the Champions League, and that showed in some moments.”
The former Super Eagles winger, however, believes the exposure will prove invaluable going forward.
“If we get another opportunity to return to this level, we will perform much better,” he added. “The lessons learned from this campaign will help us grow as a team.”
Rivers United finished their group campaign with just one point from six matches, but Finidi insists the experience gained could serve as a foundation for stronger continental performances in the future.
