Okafor got one of the goals, as The Lilly Whites stormed from 2-0 down to force the draw at Stamford Bridge, and the Swiss international has now admitted that the result did not come easy.
He also confessed that he already personally felt the tie was beyond the visitors from Elland Road, until they gained a sudden burst of life midway through the second half of the game on Tuesday night.
Joao Pedro’s scrambled finish and a Cole Palmer penalty had The Blues ahead before the hour, but Leeds fought back to earn a point with backbreaking goals from Okafor and another Nigerian-born star, Lukas Nmecha.
“I think it is an incredible feeling to get a point here. We knew it would be a difficult game. When you are in an away game, 2-0 behind, you turn it around, it is just like a big hug to the whole team, to every player, also to the fans.
“They were from the first second behind our back. We see the amazing fans travel and support us with this energy. This helped us a lot. So, we did everything. In the end, we got ourselves a point,” Okafor retorted.
He also spoke about his revivalist goal in the encounter, which he said made him happier at the end of the day at Stamford Bridge, but posited with a charge that he and his colleagues must not rest on their oars.
“I was happy to help the team with the goal. Now, we just have to continue like this.It is a huge result when it comes to the battle to stay away from the relegation zone. Every game is intense.
“Every game is difficult In this league and we take it game by game. We are in good shape and the mood in the team is very good, so we have to keep this up and go hard every day,” Okafor declared.
