Osimhen has continued to cement his status as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards since completing a permanent move to the Turkish champions last summer.
The Nigerian international has enjoyed a strong campaign, recording 15 goals and one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions, while also playing a decisive role in Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League run with six goals.
The 27-year-old forward, who recently reached the milestone of 200 career goals, has become a central figure in Galatasaray’s attacking setup, prompting renewed interest from several elite clubs across Europe.
Turkish outlet Haberlisin reports that Barcelona are seriously considering Osimhen as part of their long-term attacking plans. With veteran striker Robert Lewandowski nearing the twilight of his career and alternative options failing to fully convince, the Catalan giants are believed to be searching for a reliable focal point to spearhead their attack.
Osimhen is said to be high on Barcelona’s shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, Galatasaray are determined not to lose their star man cheaply.
Having invested a Turkish-record €75 million to secure his services, the Istanbul club are keen to recoup a profit and have therefore set an €80 million valuation on the striker.
Barcelona’s ongoing financial constraints could pose a challenge to any potential deal, despite the club’s recent ability to execute significant transfers. Galatasaray, for their part, remain relaxed about the situation, with Osimhen under contract and playing a pivotal role in their ambitions domestically and in Europe.
While the Nigerian forward is understood to be settled in Istanbul and currently earning a record salary in Turkey, a move back to one of Europe’s top five leagues may still appeal to him.
As the summer window approaches, attention will focus on whether Barcelona can match Galatasaray’s valuation and if Osimhen would be open to another major career move.
