Aduku Admits: Falconets Must Defend Resolutely Against Senegal On Saturday

Nigeria’s female under-20 national team, Falconets’ coach, Moses Aduku has declared that his players must defend resolutely against Senegal in this weekend’s second leg clash of their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.

Sports247 reports that the encounter will take place on Saturday at Stade Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal’s third largest city, which is 70 kilometres from the Francophone country’s capital, Dakar.

The Falconets hold a slim 1-0 win from the first leg played last weekend in Abeokuta, and Aduku admits they must be on their toes for all 90 minutes of Saturday’s reverse fixture in Senegal.

He noted that the match, which will begin at 6pm Nigeria time, will be a tough encounter, as the winner on aggregate will move to the last round of the qualifiers for the U20 Women’s Youth Mundial billed for Poland in September.

Although the former youth international admitted that his team will have to be at their best on Saturday, he enthused that they will emerge victorious, having watched the tape of last weekend’s game and studied their opponents’ weak points.

Aduku declared, “We will overcome, because we have reviewed the match and taken a lot of lessons on board. I commend the girls for regrouping after a tough first half, adjusting tactics and showing character in the second half.

“We could have won by more goals, because we created a number of opportunities in that second period. In Senegal, we must defend resolutely and attack with purpose. We will play with focus and determination.”
