Speaking with Sport247Naija, the former coach of Gadmaj FC, Young Star FC, and Blessed Trinity FC believe the transfer reflects Lookman’s growth into a complete modern attacker capable of thriving across leagues.
“To me, it’s a good move,” Coach Ademola said. “It is not always about scoring on debut. A complete player can move from one team or league to another, especially when he has the ability to adapt to different league patterns.”
Lookman’s arrival at Atlético has generated excitement, particularly with Diego Simeone’s side set to face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final.
Addressing the prospect of Lookman lining up against teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, Coach Ademola expressed confidence in the Nigerian’s ability to rise to the occasion.
“He will definitely play well despite Yamal being in the game, but adaptation is what really matters for him. Once he settles well into the league, his quality will show,” he added.
Reflecting on Lookman’s outstanding displays at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Coach Ademola also believes the forward has positioned himself among the continent’s elite.
He agreed that the former African Footballer of the Year has a strong chance of finishing on the podium for the next CAF African Player of the Year Award, provided he maintains consistency at club level.
Coach Ademola concluded that Lookman’s blend of experience, versatility, and tactical intelligence makes Atlético Madrid a fitting stage for the next chapter of his career, while also boosting Nigeria’s representation at the top level of European football.
