Quadri Aruna reaffirmed his dominance on the African table tennis scene with a polished display that earned him a place in the men’s singles semi-finals of the ITTF Africa Cup 2026 in Benghazi, Libya.

The four-time African champion proved too strong for Egypt’s promising youngster, Mostafa Badr, dispatching him in straight games with scores of 11–5, 12–10, 11–8, 11–9 in their quarter-final encounter.
Drawing on his vast experience, the Nigerian star mixed explosive forehands with smart placement and composure at key moments to keep the energetic Badr in check.
The Egyptian teenager, however, showed admirable fighting spirit, especially in the tightly contested second and fourth games, where he briefly threatened to shift the momentum.
Speaking after the match, Aruna was full of praise for his opponent, highlighting Badr’s steady rise and potential to become a major force in African table tennis.
Beyond securing a semi-final spot, the victory also confirmed Aruna’s qualification for the ITTF World Cup in Macao, adding another milestone to his distinguished career.
Aruna will now set his sights on the semi-final as he continues his pursuit of a historic fifth Africa Cup crown.
