Sports247 reports that Lookman scored a goal and got an assist in his first match for the club last weekend, following which the former Atalanta of Italy winger promised to always play for the team.
Lookman, whose contract is expected to run up till 2030, also described the contract as a blessing, especially as his efforts at leaving Atalanta to their Serie A rivals, Inter Milan, last season were botched.
He declared: “For me, it’s a blessing to be here. I’m very happy and content. It’s fantastic to be here. So, I’m incredibly proud.
“I am happy to be at this club and in this league, which is very important. It’s a great pleasure to wear the colours of such a special club as Atlético.”
The former Charlton Athletic, Everton, Fulham and Leicester City of England star, who also previously played for RB Leipzig of Germany assured Atletico fans of his loyalty to the team, while pledging to avoid seeking personal gain.
“It’s been fantastic to be here with the team. They’ve given me a great welcome, and I’m looking forward to sharing more training sessions with them.
“My game is very dynamic, it relies heavily on speed. I’m going to try to make a difference in critical moments. That’s what I like to do.
“To contribute to the teams I join. I’m a team player, and if I can help the team, that’s the main thing,” Lookman affirmed.
