The Nigerian athlete opened his day by powering to a new personal best of 6.61 seconds to win his 60m heat, finishing as the fastest athlete across all heats. Despite qualifying comfortably for the final, Godfred opted not to compete further in the sprint to conserve energy for his field event.
That decision paid off handsomely. Godfred went on to dominate the long jump, soaring to a winning mark of 7.93 metres to seal victory.
The double success underlined Godfred’s versatility and form this season, combining elite-level speed with explosive jumping ability in a commanding display at the meet.
