The club had earlier withdrawn from the league after raising concerns over what it described as unfair treatment and disproportionate sanctions.
However, after constructive engagement with the NPFL authorities, both parties have reached an understanding, paving the way for Kun Khalifat FC’s reinstatement with immediate effect.
Speaking on the development, the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Amaefula, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the dialogue, noting that Kun Khalifat FC is pleased to put the issues behind them and refocus on football.
“We are happy with the constructive discussions held with the NPFL Board and appreciate their willingness to listen to and address our concerns. Our focus now is on the beautiful game, and we look forward to a more collaborative and productive relationship moving forward,” Amaefula said.
Following their reinstatement, Kun Khalifat FC will resume their NPFL campaign with a home fixture against Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan. The match is scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
The club has called on its supporters in Owerri and beyond to turn out in large numbers to support the team, describing the fixture as crucial to their season.
Kun Khalifat FC also thanked fans for their patience and loyalty during the challenging period, reaffirming the club’s commitment to entertaining football and delivering memorable matchday experiences.
Further details regarding ticketing and match arrangements will be communicated in due course as the club prepares for its return to NPFL action.
