Sports247 gathered that the competition is staged in both male and categories for two levels of the domestic volleyball league, providing six clubs from each of them.
With a total of 12 clubs in attendance – six each for female and male teams in the top-flight premier league as well as from the lower division – Adamu pointed out that it is a carnival of sort.
He acknowledged that the competition had been on hold for some years but, due to its value and importance in the scheme of Nigeria’s volleyball development, the NVBF’s new executive committee decided to revive it.
The NVBF top shot added, “Super Cup has always been part and parcel of the yearly, annual programmes of the federation. But, for some other reason, we had not been able to stage it for years.
“When we came in as the new board of the federation, we decided to bring it back as part and parcel of developing the game to the level where we expect it to be.”
Adamu, who is also chairman of the NVBF 2026 Super Cup, concluded by revealing what the federation aims to achieve with the event, which he added will climax this Sunday with four finals – female and male contests for both premier and national leagues respectively.
Adamu posited, “This is where we are now. The Super Cup is about bringing out one champion from three teams in each league category.
“We want to see the champions among all the top teams in each of the divisions. Three teams have come from each division; but only one will leave as champion.”
